Embarking on Our Journey: Becoming Certified Epilepsy Trainers

We’re thrilled to share some exciting news: we’re about to attend the Epilepsy Train the Trainer course. This marks the beginning of a powerful journey, one that will empower us not only to care for individuals experiencing seizures but also to pass that knowledge on by training others.

Why We’re Doing This

Epilepsy affects countless people across the UK and beyond. As care professionals, understanding seizures, both their causes and how to respond, is essential. But we want to go further: by becoming certified trainers, we’ll enable our teams and colleagues to deliver informed, compassionate epilepsy awareness training in-house. This investment ensures greater reach, confidence, and impact in supporting those with epilepsy.

What the Epilepsy Train the Trainer Course Covers

Here’s what we’ll learn during this comprehensive training session:

  • Understanding epilepsy: What it is and how it impacts individuals
  • Recognising seizure types: From focal to generalized seizures
  • Seizure first aid: Including how to conduct a primary survey and position someone safely in the recovery position
  • Spotting signs and symptoms: Identifying when a seizure is occurring and knowing how to support
  • Train the trainer skills: Covering presentation techniques, feedback and evaluation, teaching methods, icebreakers, understanding learning styles, and presentation confidence

By the end, we’ll be fully certified as Epilepsy Trainers, ready to deliver engaging, compliant, and valuable sessions.

Course Highlights & Benefits

  • Meets CQC requirements: Ensuring compliance with UK care standards
  • Accessible to all: No prior qualifications or barriers to entry, a truly inclusive awareness course
  • Multiple delivery formats: Options include interactive face‑to‑face sessions, webinars, or blended learning to suit busy schedules

What This Means for Us (and You)

  1. Empowerment — We’ll be equipped with the knowledge and tools to create safe, supportive environments.

In closing:
This is more than just training. It’s about building confidence, competence, and compassion in supporting individuals with epilepsy. We’re proud to take this step forward and can’t wait to share updates as we go. Stay tuned as we grow, learn, and empower others.
